I see what you did there!

When you said cover, I thought you meant a full instrumental cover. So when I first heard this, I was like "is this stolen?" Then I heard the vocals come in.
The vocals are absolutely amazing... Do you bychance live in mid-eastern Alberta? My band needs a vocalist like you!
Excellent work!

i wish i did haha

It doesn't sound right...

So I'll start you off with a 10/10 and deduct points how I see fit
Cons: It's extremely off key (-2)
It sounds like you're playing random notes (-2)
I don't like the sound of the synths(-2)
The EQing is not so good (-2)
Pros: The main riff sounded good (+2)

So there you go, just a few things to work on. A slight suggestion though to help you improve: Learn some basic music theory, it can really help.
So final scores
2/5 (-2.15)
4/10

I'll give you a word of warning

Guitar Pro 5 is probably the worst program to use for making music. I would know, I did the same thing.
Because of that, I won't judge on sound quality. I'll judge on composition factors.
As a bagpipe player, I can already tell you that the scale you are using for the bagpipes is wrong, and it sounds kind of like an egyptian scale. (As a tip, the bapipe scale is in A Major)
Since you're using the Egyptian scale, I can tell you that it sounds fairly decent. and that it's composed really well.
8/10 (For using the wrong scale)
4/5

cragus2 responds:

Thanks man. As a non bagpipe player i didn't know about the scales. I will bear this in mind if i decide to use the pipes again.

He's right

It's pretty much 2 seconds of silence. I would fix that if I were you.

5vedjeland responds:

sorry, it didn't work out when i uploaded it :S

Not metal...

But definately not worthy of a 0. This should probably be in the misc section, it would probably get a better score.
ANYWAYS I found this quite funny, gave me a good laugh.

AND it gave me an idea for something to do with my own music, so you get an extra 3 stars.
So
2/5 (+1.67)
3/10 (+ bonus) 6/10 stars

Good beat.

The drums are powerful, and if it were the drums alone, it would probably be headbang worthy.
Not that I'm saying the melody is bad, it's just the mass distortion that you have on it that makes it bad.
Sounds like it's massively clipping, and it makes my ears want to bleed.

SO I might give you a small lesson:
Got a pedal? Plug it into your computer. When recording the rythm, put in two tracks into your DAW and pan one of the tracks all the way left, and the other all the way right.
Get the voxengo boogex amp simulator VST and add that as an effect. Those weird lines on it are the EQ, take the two points and move them to the very left and very right.
For bass, also use Boogex because it has some bass amp models.
And for drums, get Antress ModernMonster compressor.

Hope this helps!

3/5 (+2.06)

Definately an interesting song

Jumbled and everything, yet still managed to sound good.
You definately did a good job mixing this.
Oh, and it's UTA for a reason.

Rig responds:

Thanks! Yeah, I EQ'd the heck out of everything.
And sorry, I misspelled your name. Fixed!

Really good!

Just one thing though, the snare seems to start dying out at around 1:00
Also, maybe add some drum rolls to give it more of a "War Lament" sound
Other than that, really good arrangement, maybe add something an instrument like the flute with the choir segment to add a better effect.
The title seems to suit the song, so I'd say stick with that.
To help you find your lost items, I have a question: Are your saved files just a bunch of random numbers... like "01-100210_0038.wav"? Or does it have a title? If it has a title, why not just use the search?
Hope I helped!
Oh hey, could you return the favor and review my latest song? It would be appreciated.

popraz responds:

Thank you ! The problem with the file (the .flp source file) is that I used to work multiple songs in just one file, and this song is probably either stashed in a file with a misleading title, or was simply buthcered and retitled as I started working on a new song. Nowadays I'm a lot more careful about my work files. At least I was smart enough to keep the .mp3s

A few things.

Catchy tune, good beat. Just one thing
The guitars have the "Distorted Harpsichord" effect.
Although it's not as bad as others I've heard, I really don't like that effect.
Fix that, and you're on the road to epicness!

Sounds much better

I don't know, something about the previous version seemed off, if all you did was adjust the drums, then it did wonders to this song.
Great work as always!

If you enjoy my music, fave me and check out my other sites!
